Homehead’s Holiday Homes are perfectly placed for a golfing holiday. Experience a whole raft of Golf Courses, all normally within 1 hours drive, whether in Cumbria, Northumberland or across the border in Scotland.

Our newly converted 2 bedroomed holiday cottage is perfect for golfing couples to make up a 4 ball. Add to this our two Shepherd’s Huts, that accommodate a couple each you can have a sociable party of 8 with little difficulty. We also can recommend a number of excellent pubs and restaurants within a few miles drive if you don’t wish to cater yourselves. See our local attractions page for more details.

Cumbria doesn’t host the world famous Lake District (see separate web page) without it having a slightly damp climate, but in North Cumbria it seems to rain less and not too many days in the Spring, Summer and Autumn months tend to be rained off. However wet weather gear is recommended ! What it lacks in annual sunshine it makes up for is spectacular scenery and of course, exceptionally friendly Northern hospitality and lovely local food.

With at least 18 golf courses, all with their own unique aspects, Holmehead truly is the perfect base for a golfing holiday. You could spend many days sampling the varied delights of all the courses close to us. Most have good to reasonably priced green fees and many have all the facilities you would expect.

Slightly further afield in Cumbria are: Carlisle Golf Club (11 miles) ; Stoney Holme public golf course (13 miles); Brayton Park 9 hole golf course (32 miles) near Aspatria towards the west of Cumbria; Cockermouth Golf Club (39 miles) near Bassenthwaite Lake; And finally, and not to be missed by the more serious golfer, is the renowned links course of Silloth. (36 miles). Silloth is written up as one of the “Little Gems” (alongside St Enodoc in Cornwall) in the book of the Best UK and Irish Golf Courses. Not one on which to spray the ball around ! Green fees are pricey but the club house restaurant seems to be highly recommended.
