There is an excellent choice of places to eat and drink all within 20 minutes drive of Holmehead. We have frequented them over the past 5 years and would personally recommend them from our experiences.
Local Options
Within 4 miles we have pubs, takeaways or fine dining choices
The Howard Arms in Brampton is the ‘local’ pub. It is a family run pub with a balance of traditional touches and contemporary twists. The pub has a relaxed atmosphere and welcomes locals, visitors to the area, overnight stayers, business trippers, families and even four-legged friends. Tel: 01697 742758
If you wanted a takeaway rather than dining out, then the Star Anise Indian Takeaway offers delivery. Tel: 01697 507361

Slightly further afield, at around 7-10 miles there’s a great selection of pubs
The Fleece at Ruleholme is a relaxed pub in a former coaching inn and offers a good selection of options for lunch. Tel: 01228 832030. At Castle Carrock you can find the Duke of Cumberland, a traditional country pub offering a wide range of home cooked food, with the menu changing daily. Tel: 01228 670341.
Serving seasonal food, The Sally at Irthington serves light lunches, afternoon teas and evening meals. Tel: 01697 742954 . Or you could visit the Greenhead Hotel at Greenhead, Brampton, tel: 01697 747411
If you’re visiting Warwick-on-Edne, then why not try The Queens tel: 01228 317651. Around Wetheral and Great Corby there’s also even more choice, for instance The Queen Inn at Corby tel 01228 832032 or Fantails at Wetheral, tel 01228 560239.

If you are visiting Hexham in Northumberland, we would recommend both the Beaumont near the abbey and Bouchon (French cuisine).
In addition to the above there is a huge choice of top quality restaurants in the lake district from Ullswater to Windermere. Most can be reached fairly easily within an hour or so of driving.
